Thanks and acknowledgements go to the following who have helped and inspired me on this exciting path to becoming a fledgling mosaic artist. Julia: met Julia and did my first mosaic on the same day! - started me off on an art form I didn’t think I liked - very creative, fun and inspiring person – always coming up with new ideas - have become good craft friends Rosalind Wates: did a weekend mosaic course with Rosalind - learnt about the history, concept, format and structure - learnt all the basics of cutting, glueing and grouting Aimee Saic: stunning and totally inspiring work – she made me realise how versatile mosaics can be – did a weekend course with Aimee and Mark – really ‘got’ the concept of the flow of a piece, which is essential – Aimee’s work was the inspiration for me wanting to get more involved in mosaicing Kitty Hartnell: I do a weekly work shop with Kitty – in her gentle and understated way Kitty has really helped my work to progress - have learnt much more about scale, formation, structure, colour, materials – does not accept the phrase ‘that will do’ Anne: my chum who is continually enthusiastic and encouraging about what I do – is great at telling others about my work – a lovely friend to have Dr Simon Davey: who agreed to create and maintain yet another website for me - puts pictures and notices up instantly - a strong support when I was making the transition from ‘professional to creative’ work - he remains a good friend and sounding board Glenda Shawley: has written the copy for all my websites and my marketing materials - promotes me and provides networking opportunities Alan: my lovely, long suffering husband who is happy to go along with whatever my latest craze is although neither of us realised how big this one would be! - does all my framing, cutting of wood, hangings etc. – drives me all over the place to venues and to buy materials - carries heavy crates of mosaics – is now an expert at setting up and taking down an exhibition - a tremendous support and I honestly would not want to be on this journey without him |
